ANDREA GASTON ON LEILA CHARTRAND: Leila has had numerous ailments throughout her time at USC, she has still been able to have a stellar collegiate career. She's had numerous top 10 finishes, including a fifth place at the NCAAs as a sophomore. Unfortunately, she has had to sit out the fall season, but we anticipate her return this spring and she should end her career on a high note. "
FALL RESULTS: Chartrand was slowed with a sore back and did not compete this past fall.
2000-01: Chartrand got off to a hot start last season, chalking up three top 10 finishes in the fall ... She cooled off a little in the spring and finished with a stroke average of 75.4, third-best on the squad ... Had her best tournament at the Stanford Women's Intercollegiate, shooting 214 to finish third ... Shot 215--including a season-low round of 70-- to finish seventh at the Golf World Invitational ... Finished fifth at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational with a score of 222 ... Finished tied for 23rd at the Pac-10s with a score of 226 ... Shot 311 to finish 77th at the NCAA Championships ... Was named All-Pac-10 second-team.
1999-00: Chartrand had a solid sophomore season, competing in 12 tournaments and recording three top 10 finishes, including a fifth place showing at the NCAA Championships ... Her stroke average of 75.2 was third best on the squad ... Led USC at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, finishing fourth with a score of 220 ... Shot a career-low round of 69 at the Edean Ihlanfeldt in the third round ... Finished seventh at the Dr. Thompson Rainbow Tournament with a score of 226 ... Overall, had eight top 20 finishes on the season ... Was named All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention.
1998-99: Chartrand competed in 11 tournaments during her freshman year and had a stroke average of 75.8 ... Was second on the team with four top 10 finishes ... Finished in third place at the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif and in fifth place at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate ... Placed ninth at the Pac-10 championships and fifth at the NCAA West Regional.
HIGH SCHOOL: Won the 1998 British Columbia Girls Division High School Golf Championship while attending Lambrick Park Secondary in Victoria, B.C. (finished fourth in the overall division for B.C. high schools) ... Two-time Manitoba Champion ... Two-time B.C. Junior Champion ... Canada team member at the 1997 Junior World ... Eight-time competitor in the Canadian Juniors (three Top 10 finishes ... Finished fifth at the AJGA Girls Championship in 1997 ... Finished second at the 1997 Ping Phoenix ... Qualified 13th in 1997 U.S. Juniors ... Was on the Honor Roll during all of her years in high school.
