LOS ANGELES -- Junior Nik Andrejic scored two goals as part of a six-goal third period Saturday and the No. 4 USC Trojans defeated the No. 2 Stanford Cardinal, 9-7, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's water polo match at McDonald's Swim Stadium. Down 4-1 early in the third period, the Trojans reeled off seven unanswered goals.
With the win, the Trojans improve to 3-0 in MPSF play with key wins this season against Stanford and California.
Stanford's Tony Azevedo led the Cardinal with four goals, scoring two at the end of the second quarter for a 3-1 Cardinal lead at halftime. Freshman Thomas Hale started the Trojan streak in the third as goalie Bozidar Damjanovic made four saves in the period.
USC will host Loyola Marymount on Wednesday (Oct. 22) at 5 p.m. at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
