THIS SEASON: A 2005 redshirt senior, Ray Vincent is one of the top platform divers in America and is one of three returning All-Americans for the Trojans. Talented in all three specialties, Vincent will challenge for an NCAA title on platform this season and looks to reach the finals of the springboard events.
2004: Vincent repeated as an All-American as a 2004 junior, taking seventh on platform (478.45) at the 2004 NCAA Championships. He also posted an NCAA-best 15th place on 3-meter (507.20) and was 26th on 1-meter (263.85) ... At the 2004 Pac-10 Championships, Vincent was second on the platform, falling to teammate Michael Hilde. He was also third on the 1-meter springboard and fifth on 3-meter ... At the 2004 Zone Championships, Vincent was third on 1-meter, fourth on 3-meter and 11th on platform ... At the 2004 Olympic Diving Trials, Vincent was 15th on platform (494.58) and seventh on synchro platform ... At the 2004 U.S. Summer Diving Nationals, he was 11th on platform (499.38) and 14th on 3-meter (291.48).
2003: Vincent turned in a breakout performance as a sophomore at the 2003 NCAA Championships, taking third in the platform event (563.25) for his first ever All-American honor. He was also 16th on 1-meter (283.35) and 34th on 3-meter (248.40) ... Vincent won his first career conference title by finishing first in the platform at the 2003 Pac-10s with 503.85 points. He was also second in the 3-meter (587.95) and fourth on 1-meter (289.90). Vincent also won the platform at the 2003 Zone E Championships with 516.35 points. At the 2003 U.S. World Championship diving trials, Vincent was fifth in synchro platform and eighth on platform.
2002: Vincent was sidelined for the entire 2002 season while recovering from shoulder surgery.
2001: Vincent battled injuries as a 2001 freshman ... He competed in three events at the 2001 Pac-10s, taking sixth in the platform, seventh on 3-meter and 10th on 1-meter.
HIGH SCHOOL: Vincent was a four-time prep All-American at El Toro High in Lake Forest, Calif. ... He competed at the Senior Nationals in 1998-2000 and has been a Junior National Finalist from 1994-2000 ... He is a four-time CIF finalist (1997-2000) and was a 2000 CIF springboard champion ... As a senior in 2000, he was named to both the L.A Times and Orange County All-Diving first teams ... At the 1999 Senior Summer Nationals, he was 19th on platform and was 21st on the platform at the Senior Spring Nationals ... He was fifth in the platform at the 2000 Junior Nationals.
PERSONAL: Vincent was born Oct. 13, 1981 ... He has been diving since he was 11, when he began diving for the Mission Viejo Nadadores ... His coach for many of his years with the Nadadores is his current USC coach, Hongping Li ... He is a computer science major.
