    THIS SEASON: An Italian native, 2009 senior Vanni Mangoni is looking to earn All-American status for the first time since 2007 (which he earned in the 400y IM). One of the top medley swimmers in the country, he will challenge for conference titles and All-American honors in both medley distances. He is also among USC's top backstrokers in the 200 and can swim a strong 200 free ... He is the fourth fastest Trojan ever in both of the 200y IM (1:46.34) and 400y IM (3:43.93).

    2008: Mangoni, as a 2008 junior, won his first career conference crown in the 400y IM at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships with a 3:45.71. He was also 10th in the 200y IM (1:46.35) and 12th in the 200y breast (1:59.40) ... Mangoni fell short of his expectations at the 2008 NCAA Championships. Looking to repeat as an All-American, he was 29th in the 400y IM (3:57.42) and 34th in the 200y breast (2:01.62). He was also disqualified in the 200y IM.

    2007: As a 2007 sophomore, Mangoni made his NCAA Championships debut, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 400y IM (3:43.93). Only USC Olympians Ous Mellouli, Erik Vendt and Dave Wharton have gone faster at USC. He was also 18th in the 200y IM (1:46.35) and swam on USC's ninth-place 800y free relay that just missed All-American status ... At the 2007 Pac-10 Championships, Mangoni was fifth in the 400y IM (3:51.37), 14th in the 200y IM (1:51.16) and 17th in the 200y back (1:47.93) ... At the 2007 U.S. Spring Nationals, he won 200m IM (2:03.53) and was second in both the 400m IM (4:20.65) and the 200m breast (2:16.80). He was the second highest men's individual point scorer at the meet.

    2006: As a 2006 freshman, Mangoni competed in three events at the 2006 Pac-10 Championships, taking 10th in the 400y IM (3:52.58), 12th in the 200y back (1:48.67) and 20th in the 200y IM (1:50.23) ... He raced at the 2006 U.S. Spring Nationals, finishing second in the 400m IM and fourth in the 200m IM.

    ITALY: Mangoni, competed throughout Europe while growing up in Italy, including at the Short Course World Championships, European Junior and Senior Championships and Italian Junior and Senior Nationals ... A talented medley swimmer and breaststroke, he has won medals at both the Italian and European junior championships.
