THIS SEASON: A talented butterflyer and IM swimmer, 2008 senior Brandon Lovell is among the Pac-10's top 200y butterflyers and is coming off a strong junior season. Still working toward making his NCAA Championship debut, Lovell is the 10th fastest Trojan ever in the 100y fly (47.91).
2007: Lovell finished a career best third in the 200y fly as a junior at the 2007 Pac-10 Championships, swimming a personal best 1:46.02 in his second conference final appearance in the race. In his debut in the 100y fly final, he was seventh, also in a personal best 47.91. He was 12th in the 100y breast (56.64).
2006: Lovell's 2006 sophomore season was highlighted by a final appearance in the 200y fly at the 2006 Pac-10 Championships, were he finished eighth in 1:48.51. He also was 14th in the 100y fly (48.98) and 21st in the 200y IM (1:51.95) ... Swimming at the 2006 U.S. Spring Nationals, Lovell raced in three events, topped by a 13th-place in the 100m fly (56.17) ... He also competed at the 2006 U.S. Summer Nationals in the 100m fly.
2005: Lovell raced twice at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships, finishing 16th in the 200y fly (49.23) and 21st in the 200y breast (2:03.52).
HIGH SCHOOL: Lovell was a prep All-American as a junior and a senior at Paul Laurence Dunbar High and was tabbed as the Most Outstanding Male Swimmer among Kentucky high schools in 2004 ... Won state titles in the 100y fly and the 200y IM and was a YMCA National champ in the 200m breast.
PERSONAL: He was born on June 10, 1986 ... Scored a perfect 1600 on the SAT and was a National Merit Scholar ... Majoring in biomedical engineering.
