THIS SEASON: A 2008 senior co-captain from Australia, Richard Gosper is USC's top returning freestyler sprinter. After making his NCAA Championships debut as a junior, he looks to make the leap as an individual point scorer at the 2008 NCAAs. He will also be a key on relays throughout the dual-meet season. In the Fall of 2007, Gosper broke the school record in the 50y free (19.54) and tied the mark in the 50m free (lc) in 23.21.
2007: Gosper returned to USC after a year off as a 2007 junior and had a strong year, capped off by four appearances at the 2007 NCAA Championships. In addition to finishing 30th in the 50y free (19.98), he swam on USC's 13th-place 200y free and 200y medley relays as well as on the 400y free relay (which was disqualified) ... At the Pac-10 Championships, Gosper was 11th in the 50y free (20.03) and 22nd in the 100y fly (49.45) ... He earned Pac-10 All-Academic first team honors with a 3.53 GPA in business administration ... His personal best 19.85 in the 50y free came at the Georgia Invite in December.
2006: Gosper did not compete at USC in 2006.
2005: Gosper took 14th in the 50y free (20.32) at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships in his first year with USC and was also 13th in the 100y free (44.76).
AUSTRALIA: Gosper came to USC after attending Melbourne University and high school at Scotch College ... While at Scotch, he earned the Geofery Ashton Cole prize for studies and sport (2000), the Harry and Keith Davies Prize (2001) for the same and the Ashley Perelberg Award for most dedication.

PERSONAL: Gosper is a business major ... His parents are Kevan and Judy Gosper and his younger sister Sophie is a freshman on USC's women's team.
