THIS SEASON: Senior Kevin Bartell, who has NCAA Championships experience, has improved in both the breaststroke and sprint free and looks to be a key dual-meet and relay performer for the Trojans.
2008: As a junior with the Trojans, Bartell competed in three races at the Pac-10 Championships, taking 18th in the 100y breast (56.26), 21st in the 50y free (20.81) and 31st in the 100y free (46.18).
FLORIDA ATLANTIC: Attended Florida Atlantic as a freshman and sophomore (2005-06). As a sophomore, was the school's lone representative at the 2006 NCAA Championships. He was 12th in the 100y breast in 54.05, just off his school and conference record mark of 54.01 set in his title-winning swim at the Sun Belt Championships a few weeks earlier (where he also won the 200y IM) ... As a freshman, he was part of the 200 medley relay that broke the school record and set a Sun Belt record at the Sun Belt Championships. He went on to take second in the 100y breast at the conference meet and sixth in the 200y IM.
HIGH SCHOOL: Bartell prepped at Liberty High in Bakersfield, Calif., where he was a prep All-American and set four school records. He was a Central California CIF champion in the 100y breast.
