    O'Neill Added to Cardinals 40-Man Roster

    Outfielder Mike O'Neill, who spent the 2013 season at AA and AAA was named to the 40-man St. Louis roster.


    Catching Up with Trojans in the Minor Leagues

    22 Trojans are competing in the minors with hopes of one day making the big leagues.

    O'Neill made 111 starts in 151 during his Trojan career, batting .320 (141-for-440) with six home runs, 50 RBI and 19 stolen bases.

    In his final season with the Trojans, O'Neill batted .344 (64-for-186) with a career-high 14 doubles, three home runs, 25 RBI and five stolen bases...earned All-Pac-10 Conference honorable mention recognition...went 8-for-14 in his final series against Washington (May 28-30)...posted a 4-for-5 day in his final career game on May 30 against Washington with a home run and career-high four RBI...finished the season with a nine-game hitting streak, recording seven multi-hit games...hit .391 in Pac-10 Conference games...hit .479 in his final 23 games, hitting safely in 22 of those games...had a season-high 13-game hitting streak snapped on May 16 at No. 11 UCLA...had a 2-for-5 night with three RBI on May 4 at UC Irvine...had two doubles in a game twice during the Utah series (May 7 and 9)...went 4-for-6 with the game-winning RBI single in the top of the 10th on April 24 in a 5-4 win at No. 18 Oregon...gave the Trojans a 2-1 lead on Feb. 23 vs. Loyola Marymount with a two-run home run in the eventual 6-5 victory....played for the Alexandria Beetles of the Northwoods League during the summer, making his second appearance in the All-Star Game...batted .293 (51-for-174) with seven doubles, six home runs, 24 RBI and nine stolen bases.

    In his 2009 junior season, O'Neill made 51 starts in 52 games and batted .319 (61-for-191) with three home runs, 17 RBI and seven stolen bases...he had six doubles and four triples...led the team with 30 walks...second on the team with a .411 on-base percentage...led off the game with a solo home run on May 22 at California in a 2-for-4 day...went 5-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored, including the game-winning run on a wild pitch, on May 19 against UC Riverside...had two separate nine-game hitting streaks...his best nine-game streak was from April 29-May 15 where he batted .400 (14-for-35) with eight runs scored...hit his first home run of the season on April 14 against No. 6 Cal State Fullerton...had three RBI in a game for the first time in his career on April 9 against Oregon during USC's 9-1 victory...recorded his first career three-hit game on March 31 at No. 23 Cal Poly.

    As a sophomore, he made nine starts in 25 games and batted .213 (10-for-47) with six stolen bases and four RBI...went 1-for-4 with a walk, two stolen bases and one RBI in a 6-5 win on May 18 against defending national champion Oregon State...had a 2-for-2 day on April 18 at UC Santa Barbara...drew two walks and scored a run in the Trojans' season opener on Feb. 22 at Florida International...in the summer, he batted .322 (39-for-121) for the Palm Springs Power of the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League...led the regulars with a .464 on-base percentage and 21 stolen bases...had 10 RBI to go with 29 walks against just 18 strikeouts..for the summer, he played for the Thunder Bay Border Cats of the Northwoods League...batted .297 (73-for-246) in 68 games for the Border Cats that won the Northwoods League championship...led the team with 19 doubles while adding two triples, 29 RBI and a team-leading 20 stolen bases.

    In his 2007 freshman season, O'Neill made four starts in 18 games....batted .375 (6-for-16) with four RBI and one stolen base...went 3-for-7 at the plate with two RBI in back-to-back starts on May 26-27 against Stanford...went 1-for-2 with a double and RBI in his first collegiate start on March 9 at Stanford...used as a pinch runner and scored a run in his collegiate debut on Feb. 9 against San Diego...in the summer, he batted .322 (39-for-121) for the Palm Springs Power of the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League...led the regulars with a .464 on-base percentage and 21 stolen bases...had 10 RBI to go with 29 walks against just 18 strikeouts.

    O'Neill was a two-time team captain at Poly High in Riverside, Calif. for coach Aaron Moore...earned All-CIF second team honors in his junior season...he was a two-time All-Riverside County and three-time All-Ivy League first team selection...hit .409 with 23 walks and 15 stolen bases in his senior season...batted .423 (41-for-97) with 35 runs scored, 17 RBI, 20 walks and 12 stolen bases in his junior season...his team was the CIF Division I runners-up in his junior season...teammate of current USC player Hector Rabago...had the highest grade-point-average on his team during his senior season...three-time winner of the school's Academic Athlete Award...played in the Connie Mack World Series twice for the Trombley Bears and was named to the World Series All-Tournament team in 2005.
