    Assistant Coach


    Tim Burton begins his second season as an assistant coach with the USC baseball program. His duties will include handling the infielders and outfielders, as well as assisting on hitting and base running. He will also continue his role as director for all USC baseball camps.

    Burton, 32, who currently teaches in the physical education department at USC, has a 10-year coaching career which includes stints at Riverside Community College and Cal Poly Pomona. He was an assistant under Dennis Rogers at Riverside during the program's three consecutive state titles (2000-02). During his tenure at Cal Poly Pomona, he also handled recruiting and day-to-day operations.

    He was an all-league player at Vista (Calif.) High and a starter of the 1993 CIF championship squad before continuing his career at Palomar College and Cal State San Bernardino. He was an all-conference player at Cal State San Bernardino where he earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 1999.

    Burton later earned his teaching credential at Chapman University and his masters' degree in kinesiology at Azusa Pacific University.
