July 23, 2003

Barbados - USC's Noah Bryant threw 63-6 1/2 (19.40m) on Friday, July 18, to place second in the shot put for the United States at the 2003 Pan American Junior Championships held in Barbados.

Bryant's effort--while competing with the junior-size shot--came on his third throw. It held up in the lead until Garrett Johnson of the United States eclipsed him on his fifth try with a throw of 65-6 (19.95m).

Bryant, who was the 2002 California State prep champ in the shot, will be a sophomore for USC in 2003-2004. Last season, he had a best of 56-10 3/4 for the Trojans.
