Los Angeles, Calif. - The USC men's track and field team scored eight clutch points and Julianna Tudja continued her hot streak on Friday as the 70th annual USC-UCLA dual meet got underway with the hammer competition at West L.A. College.

Trojan freshman Adam Midles won the men's hammer with a throw of 201-7, with senior teammate Michael Murray coming in second (196-11). UCLA's Dan Ames was third (196-8). By winning the top two spots, Troy scored eight team points to UCLA's one.

Tudja, a senior who holds the Pac-10 women's record in the hammer throw with a best of 218-5, threw a USC-UCLA dual meet record 212-5 to cruise to an easy win. It's her fifth time this season over 208 feet after eclipsing that mark just once previously in her career. UCLA's Carrie Soong--the previous dual meet record holder--was second (206-8), followed by junior L'Orangerie Crawford in third (203-6). The Women of Troy scored six team points to UCLA's three.

The dual meet continues with an 11 a.m. start at USC's Loker Stadium on Saturday (April 26).
