Budapest, Hungary - Former USC All-American Torri Edwards finished fourth in the 60m dash in a time of 7.16 seconds on Friday as the 2004 World Indoor Track and Field Championships got underway in Budapest.

Gail Devers took the gold in in the 60m in 7.08.

French national champion Julien Kapek, who won the NCAA triple jump title last year for USC as a senior, finished fourth in the prelims of the triple jump at 55-5 1/2 (16.95). He advances to Saturday's final.

USC junior Allen Simms--the U.S. indoor triple jump champ--jumped 54-0 1/2 (16.49) to finish ninth and did not advance to the finals.
