The first day of the UCSD Triton Invitational concluded Friday (April 22) evening with sophomore Julia Rozenfeld throwing 189-5 to finish second to UCLA's Jessica Cosby's 206-11 throw.
Rozenfeld is currently third in the Pac-10 with a season-best 203-1 throw, good enough for ninth in the nation. Crosby's 217-5 mark leads the Pac-10 and is the second best hammer throw in the nation. The two will face off again next Saturday (April 30) at the USC/UCLA Dual Meet at USC'S Cromwell Field in Loker Stadium.
Sophomore Adam Midles, who already leads the Pac-10's hammer competition, threw a season-best 211-08 on Friday to place third, finishing ahead of both UCLA hammer throwers. Classmate Kevin Swartz improved his personal best in the hammer, throwing 167-10 for 12th place.
Freshman Alexandra Williams finished the women's hammer competition 15th with a 157-7 throw.
Other Trojans will be in action tomorrow morning as day two begins at 10 a.m. (April 23).
