    Pole Vault


    THIS YEAR: Looks to use his senior season to vault into USC's all-time pole vault top 10 and join teammate Brandon Estrada.

    2009: Had a PR of 17-3 (5.26m) to place seventh at the NCAA West Regional on May 30. He placed 10th at the Pac-10 Championships with a clearance of 16-6 3/4 (5.05m). Took second place at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet with a vault of 17-1 (5.21m).

    2008: Set a then PR with a pole vault of 17-2 3/4 (5.25m) at the Trojan Invitational on March 22. Finished tied for seventh at the Pac-10 Championships with a clearance of 16-7 3/4 (5.07m) was tied for the fourth-best height, but he fell to seventh on misses. Tied for ninth at the West Regional in the pole vault with a jump of 16-7 1/4 (5.06m).

    2007: Redshirted with an ankle injury. 2006: Scott led all USC pole vaulters as a freshman with a clearance of 17-1 (5.21m) to win the pole vault competion at the Trojan Invitational on March 25...Tied for 15th at the Pac-10 Championships with a pole vault of 4.90m...Qualified for the NCAA West Championships, but no heighted.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Scott prepped at El Camino (Calif.) High and had a best 16-8 (5.08m) in the pole vault...Did not compete in the high school postseason due to multiple ligament tears in his knee...He was the No. 1 high school pole vaulter his senior year and was leading the nation at the time of his injury.

    PERSONAL: Derek was born on June 25, 1987 in Oceanside, Calif....His hobbies include skydiving, skateboarding...and not getting injured...Lists his favorite musical group as Steel Pulse...He is getting his master's in Business Administration at USC.
