Kaczor, Nick and Hackett Named USC's Wells Fargo Student Athletes Of The Week

Nov. 19, 2007

Asia Kaczor, Ashley Nick and Daniel Hackett were selected today (Nov. 19) as USC's Wells Fargo Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 12-18.

Kaczor, a senior on the women's volleyball team, led USC to a sweep of the Washington schools, including a Pac-10-record 44 kills in the 3-2 win over the No. 5 Huskies on Nov. 16. The previous conference mark was 43 kills by UCLA's Natalie Williams and the old USC record was 38 kills by Jennifer (Kessy) Boss in vs. San Diego on Dec. 6, 1997. Kaczor also eclipsed the 500 kills mark for the season, making her the first Trojan to accomplish the feat in two different seasons.

Kaczor was also named the Pac-10 Player of the Week.

Nick, a junior midfielder on the women's soccer team, scored on a header in the second overtime to give USC a 1-0 victory over host Missouri in the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championships and propelled the Trojans into a third-round matchup against Florida. The win was USC's 16th of the season, tying a school record and advanced the team to the third round for the first time in school history. For Nick, it was her first career game-winning goal.

Hackett, a sophomore on the men's basketball team, returned to action following six weeks of recovering from a broken jaw and helped lead USC to road wins at The Citadel and South Carolina. In both games he established new career highs in points, with 21 at The Citadel and then 22 at South Carolina. In the game at South Carolina, Hackett had his first career triple-double (22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 points) which is the first triple-double by a USC men's basketball player in at least 30 years.

Hackett was also named the National Player of the Week by The Sporting News.
