Sarah Cocco, Asia Kaczor and Stafon Johnson were selected as USC's Wells Fargo Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 10-16.
Cocco of the cross country team and Kaczor of the volleyball team were named USC's Co-Female Athletes of the Week, while Johnson was selected the USC Male Athlete of the Week.
Cocco, a freshman running in her first collegiate meet, won the Aztec Invitational in San Diego on Sept. 15 with a time of 17:43. She won the meet by making up 30 meters with under 100m left and taking the lead with 10 meters to go in the race. Cocco's time was the fastest by a USC women's cross country runner since the 1998 season and she became the first Trojan runner to win a cross country meet since 2003.
The senior Kaczor helped lead USC to victories over No. 20 Ohio State and Purdue at the Sports Imports Classic held Sept. 14-15 in Columbus, Ohio. Kaczor had 39 kills in the two matches and was voted the tournament MVP. She had no errors and hit .471 in the match against Purdue.
Johnson, a sophomore, helped lead the football team to a 49-31 victory at No. 14 Nebraska by gaining 144 yards on 11 carries. He had a seven-yard touchdown run and averaged 13.1 yards per carry. Johnson was also named the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week.
