KINGSTON, R.I. - Senior Courtney Wall (Westport, Conn.) was one of four Rhode Island softball players honored by the Atlantic 10, Wednesday. Wall and sophomore Christine Gentile (West Babylon, N.Y) were named second-team All-Conference selections, while junior Alyssa Martino (East Islip, N.Y.) garnered honorable-mention recognition and freshman Stefani Poedubicky (Wrightstown, N.J.) landed on the All-Rookie team.

Wall led the team in batting average (.312), doubles (15), hits (43), slugging percentage (.507) and on-base percentage (.392). The team captain also finished second on the squad in RBI (27) and homeruns (4) in 47 starts at first base during the season.

Gentile finished second for the rams in batting average (.294) and on-base percentage (.368), while standing third in homeruns (3), RBI (25) and slugging percentage (.434) in 47 starts at third base.

Martino was selected to the team as a designated player after leading the Rams with 33 RBI and five homeruns, while finishing second in doubles (12) and third in runs scored (23) in 46 games played, including 45 starts.

Poedubicky started 46 of 47 games played in centerfield in her first season with the Rams, scoring a team-high 33 runs to go along with eight doubles, and a .985 fielding percentage. She also tied for the team lead in stolen bases, swiping nine in 11 attempts.

Rhode Island finished the season with a 20-27 record, including a 8-12 mark in the Atlantic 10. First-year head coach Deb Smith guided the Rams to a 12-game improvement over last season's 8-35 campaign.
