Field Hockey Drops 3-0 Decision at Saint Louis

ST. LOUIS - Senior M.J. Britt (Swoyersville, Pa.) recorded 12 saves as the Rhode Island field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision at Saint Louis, Sunday afternoon, Oct. 21. Junior Annie Kane (Rhinebeck, NY.) tallied a game-high five shots on goal in the loss. Saint Louis opened the scoring at the 17:11 mark when Natalie Slyman sent an unassisted shot past Britt for the 1-0 lead. Seven minutes later, Slyman fed a pass to Kelsey Shultz, who gave the Billikens a two-goal advantage with a diving shot to the back of the cage. SLU tallied its third and final goal at the 63:04 mark when Catherine Donovan tallied off a penalty corner. Assists were credited to Jacklyn McGranahan and Christine Frampus. For the game, Saint Louis outshot Rhode Island, 26-11, and held a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners. With the loss, the Rams drop to 7-8 overall (1-5 Atlantic 10) while the Billikens improve to 4-14 overall (2-4 Atlantic 10). The Rams return to action for their regular-season finale on Saturday, Oct. 27 when they host Massachusetts at Noon.
