UNLV: One of the top throwers in Rebel history ... joins Tanesha Carr, Laura Lundin and Kenya Polee in a group of only four seniors on this year's squad ... already holds school records in the indoor weight throw (58'-1.00") and the outdoor hammer throw (165'-7.00") ... should add to those records in her final year.
2006-07: Once again broke the school record she set as a sophomore in the indoor weight throw and the outdoor hammer throw ... finished fifth in the weight throw at the MWC Indoor Championships (2/24) with a heave of 58'-1.00" that earned her a fifth-place finish ... two weeks previous that she had set the mark with a distance of 57'-2.25" at the Albuquerque Invitational (2/10) ... participated in five outdoor events ... finished sixth in the hammer throw at the MWC Outdoor Championships (5/12) with a distance of 158'-5.00" ... broke the school record in the event at the season-opening USC Trojan Relays (3/3) with a toss of 165'-7.00" ... also competed in the discus and shot put ... set a career-best mark in the shot put with a heave of 38'-11.50" at the Trojan Relays.
2005-06: Broke her own school record in the weight throw, tossing it 54'-5.25" at the Albuquerque Invitational (2/11) ... that was good for an eighth-place finish ... added a 10th place showing in the shot put with a mark of 40'-4.25" at the same meet ... during the outdoor season she set her third school record, this one coming in the hammer with a toss of 159'-6.00" at the UNLV Invite (4/1) ... she finished eighth in the event ... highest placing of the outdoor season was fourth in the hammer at the Aztec Classic (3/17), when she tossed it 143'-2.00" ... recorded a seventh place in the shot put with a heave of 38'-1.50" at the Long Beach Invitational (4/14) ... at that same meet she finished ninth in the hammer with a mark of 148'-11.00" ... added a ninth place in the shot put with a mark of 38'-5.50" at the Steve Scott Invitational (4/29).
2004-05: Broke the UNLV school record in the weight throw in her first indoor meet as a Rebel with a toss of 50'-2.00" at the Husky Classic and then extended it to 52'-10.5" at the Springco Invitational ... she then eclipsed her own record at the MWC Indoor Championships, finishing 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 54'-2.50" ... only competed in the weight throw ... she did not compete in the outdoor season.
High School: Two-year letterwinner in track for James Bowie HS ... holds the school record in the shot put (39 feet) ... helped team to a district championship in 2000.
Personal: Monique Christina Humphries ... born on Nov. 24, 1984, in Baton Rouge, LA ... the daughter of Darryl and Iris Humphries ... has a brother, Brandyn, and a sister, Darisse ... majoring in psychology.
