Pyles Earns All-Region Honor
Dec. 8, 2004 Senior Molly Pyles was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-East Region team for her performance in 2004, the organization announced Wednesday. Pyles was also named to the AVCA All-America Honorable Mention list. The senior from Hendersonville, N.C., was also recognized by the AVCA in 2003, when she received honorable mention in the East Region. "I am so proud of what Molly has accomplished not only this year but throughout her career at North Carolina," head coach Joe Sagula said. "This is a great honor for her, her family and our program. Molly has has been a great team leader, as well as one of the most competitive players in the ACC for four years. As a student-athlete from this state, she has been a role model and an inspiration to so many young players in North Carolina. Our staff is delighted with the success she has had this year and we feel she is very deserving of this honor." Pyles had already been named first-team All-ACC following one of the most prolific seasons in Carolina history. She reached the 1,000 kill and 1,000 dig plateaus and finished the season with 483 digs, the fourth-highest total ever at UNC. She also finished her career with 1,371 digs, good for third-most all-time.
