Eskola Named Academic All-District

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina sophomore Brianna Eskola has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District third team for volleyball, announced Thursday. Eskola, a libero from Columbia Heights, Minn., is majoring in biology. Eskola has appeared in every game for the Tar Heels this season and is averaging 5.09 digs per game. She is on pace to register the second-highest per game digs average in school history. Other Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball players named to the District 3 team are Sarah Kirkwood (Virginia, first team), Jennifer Albrecht (Virginia Tech, first team), Ali Hausfeld (Duke, first team), Sarah Griffin (FSU, second team), Sue Carls (Duke, second team), Emily Kirkwood (Virginia, third team), Michelle Bruin (Miami, third team), Jenny Shull (Duke, third team) and Lindsay Osco (Virginia, third team). Following Tuesday's win at NC State, the Tar Heels (7-18, 5-11 ACC) return to action this weekend with a pair of ACC home games at Carmichael Auditorium. The Tar Heels host Clemson Friday at 6 p.m. and Georgia Tech Sunday at 1 p.m.
