Carolina Travels to Georgia Tech and Clemson

Atlanta, Ga. - North Carolina travels to Georgia Tech and Clemson this weekend as they try and improve on a 6-2 start to the ACC season. The Tar Heels play at Georgia Tech Friday at 7 p.m. The team travels to Clemson on Saturday for a 4 p.m. match. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. but has changed to 4 p.m.

North Carolina is 15-7 overall this season and is coming off a 3-1 loss to No. 14 Notre Dame. UNC is led by junior outside hitter Molly Pyles, as she leads the team in kills per game with a 3.66 average. Pyles also has a 2.78 digs per game average and has nine double-doubles this season.

Other key elements of the team include senior middle hitter Aletha Green, junior libero Caroline deRoeck, junior middle hitter Katie Wright and sophomore outside hitter Dani Nyenhuis. Green leads the team with a 1.18 blocks per game average and deRoeck is sixth in the ACC with a 3.44 digs per game average. Wright averages 2.70 kills per game and Nyenhuis averages 3.04 kills per game and 2.31 digs per game.

The match versus Georgia Tech will be televised by Fox Sports South and will be tape delayed. The match can be seen on Nov. 2 at 2:30 p.m. The Yellow Jackets feature one of the most talented squads in thenation as they are one of only three teams to still be undefeated. Georgia Tech is led by a host of talented players including Lynnette Moster, Lauren Sauer and Kele Eveland. Moster leads the ACC in kills per game with a 4.38 average. Sauer is third in the conference in kills per game with a 4.20 average. Eveland leads the ACC in assists per game with a 14.93 average. In a meeting earlier this season between UNC and Georgia Tech, the Yellow Jackets won 3-0.

The Clemson Tigers sport a 13-11 overall record and are 2-6 in ACC play. The Tigers have one of the top players in the conference in Leslie Finn. Finn averages 4.26 kills per game and 2.72 digs per game. Lori Ashton averages 3.32 kills per game and has 42 block solos on the season. The Tar Heels defeated Clemson 3-1 earlier this season.
