UNC Sweeps Duke 3-0

Durham, N.C. - North Carolina defeated Duke for the second time this season, as they won 3-0 in Cameron Indoor Stadium. UNC secured a point in the Carlyle Cup as the Tar Heels lead Duke 7-1 in the standings. Junior outside hitter Molly Pyles led the charge with 14 kills and 17 digs, as Carolina improved to 10-6 in the ACC and 19-11 overall. The Tar Heels won 30-20, 30-21, 30-24.

Senior middle hitter Aletha Green, playing in her final regular season ACC game, tallied 11 kills and six blocks for the Tar Heels. Sophomore outside hitter Dani Nyenhuis had 12 kills, eight digs and three blocks while junior libero Caroline deRoeck had 11 digs. Freshman outside hitter Meg Eckert contributed 10 digs and seven kills and junior setter Norma Cortez had 46 assists.

"I'm not surprised we won like we did," said Green. "We have gotten better, it just depends on how we decide to come out and play. For us, it is internal. We have to want it more than the other team, I think we did tonight."

The Tar Heels will next head to Orlando, Fla. for the ACC Tournament where they will play in the first round on Fri., Nov. 21.
