Tar Heels Fall to Wake Forest 3-1

Winston-Salem, N.C. - North Carolina fell to Wake Forest 3-1, as the Demon Deacons pulled even with the Tar Heels in the ACC standings at 9-6. UNC lost 25-30, 30-26, 25-30, 23-30. Carolina falls to 18-11 overall on the season. Junior middle hitter Katie Wright led UNC with 19 kills and seven blocks.

Junior outside hitter Molly Pyles had a team-high 21 digs to go along with seven kills and senior middle hitter Aletha Green had 14 digs and two blocks. The Tar Heels also got big contributions from sophomore outside hitter Dani Nyenhuis, junior setter Norma Cortez and junior libero Caroline deRoeck. Nyenhuis had 11 kills and 10 digs, Cortez had 43 assists and nine digs, while deRoeck had ten digs.

UNC plays in their ACC season finale at Duke on Saturday at 7 p.m.. With a win, UNC can add a point to their Carlyle Cup lead over Duke.
