NCAA Women's Tennis Championships Round of 16 Field Set
May 12, 2003 Gainesville, FL ----- The NCAA Women's Tennis Championships Round of 16 field is set following the completion of Sunday's second round matches. North Carolina, ranked 11th in the country and seeded 13th, advanced with a 4-1 win over 19th-ranked Clemson. Fourteen of the 16 seeded teams advanced, with Kansas State shocking 12th-seeded Virginia Commonwealth and Harvard topping 16th-seeded Arizona to join the elite field. All 16 teams now travel to Gainesville, Fla., for the remainder of the NCAA Championships. Round of 16 matches will be played on Thursday, May 15 at the Ring Tennis Complex on the University of Florida campus. Carolina will play No. 4 seed California. It will be the second meeting between the two schools this season. Earlier this year, Carolina lost a hard-fought match to the Bears, 4-3 in Berkeley. NCAA Women,s Tennis Championships: Match Times
