Women's Tennis Set To Face Boston College In ACC Tournament

2006 ACC Women's Tennis Tournament Bracket in PDF Format GREENSBORO, N.C. - The tenth-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team received the No. 5 seed in the 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Tournament, which is set to take place April 20-23 at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C. The Tar Heels will face off against No. 75 Boston College on Thursday at 9 a.m. The winner of Thursday's match will face Clemson on Friday at 9 a.m.; Georgia Tech received the No. 1 seed in the tournament. North Carolina currently posts a 23-5 overall record and an 8-3 ACC record. The Tar Heels are currently ranked tenth in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, while Boston College sits at No. 75. Boston College is 6-13 overall and 0-11 in the ACC. Georgia Tech, Duke, Miami and Clemson all received byes in the opening round of the tournament, earning the first four seeds. Georgia Tech, Duke and Miami all finished with 9-2 conference records; seeding for those three teams was based on a blind draw. The tournament begins Thursday, April 20, with the first rounds of matches being played at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. Thursday's winners will advance to the quarterfinals to be played on Friday. In the regular-season meeting of North Carolina and Boston College on April 2, the Tar Heels swept the Eagles, 7-0.
