Carolina's Women's Tennis Recruiting Class Ranked Among Nation's Best
April 7, 2006 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Head Coach Brian Kalbas signed two players to National Letters of Intent in the fall, Sanaz Marand and Katrina Tsang. Based on the letters of intent, Carolina's recruiting class is ranked 14th in the nation according to rankings released by www.tennisrecruiting.com. Marand is ranked as a five-star blue chip by the website, while Tsang is not rated. Tsang was ranked as a blue chip, but due to an injury, has not garnered a ranking. Marand hails from Katy, Texas and posts an overall record of 33-12. Tsang is a native of Raleigh, N.C. Tennisrecruiting.com had the following to say about Carolina's recruiting class. "This class might be much stronger than #14. Marand is among the nation's best, and Tsang was a blue chip prior to injury." The website ranked the Top 20 recruiting classes of the nation. Notre Dame leads the way at No. 2, followed closely by No. 2 Princeton, No. 3 Georgia Tech, No. 4 Duke and No. 5 Virginia. The Atlantic Coast Conference has five recruiting classes ranked in the Top 20; Georgia Tech, Duke, Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.
