Tar Heel Women's Soccer Team Announces Five-Member Recruiting Class

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Coach Anson Dorrance has announced the signing of an outstanding five-member recruiting class headed by U.S. National Team member Heather O'Reilly. These five individuals will join the Tar Heel women's soccer program beginning in the fall of 2003. The class features two players from North Carolina.

The signees are Libby Guess of Athens, Ga.; Jessica Maxwell of Colleyville, Texas; Heather O'Reilly of East Brunswick, N.J.; Jennifer Perkins of Raleigh, N.C.; and Katie Zarzar of Chapel Hill, N.C. Guess is a forward and midfielder who attends Athens Academy. At 5-7, 140 pounds, she is a dangerous presence up front. Born January 1, 1985, Guess is a member of the GSA Phoenix Club Team and earned membership on the Region III ODP Team.

Born March 4, 1985, Maxwell is a defender with height at 5-8, 140. She attends Colleyville Heritage High School and is a member of the Region III ODP Team as well. Maxwell is the captain of the '85 Dallas Sting club team which won the 2001 State Cup title in Texas.

Born January 2, 1985, O'Reilly is a dynamic forward at 5-4, 130. This past Tuesday she was named the Gatorade National High School Player of the Year. She was a 2002 Parade All-America and currently play for Coach April Heinrichs on the U.S. National Team. O'Reilly attends East Brunswick High School and is a member of the PDA Splash club team.

Perkins attends St. Mary's High School in Raleigh and her club team is the Greensboro Twisters. Born April 11, 1985, she is 5-5, 116 and plays both forward and midfield.

Zarzar comes to UNC from East Chapel Hill High School. She is 5-5, 130 and will add depth to Carolina's goalkeeping corps. Born July 7, 1985, Zarzar's club team is the Triangle Futbol Club.
