CHAPEL HILL - Six University of North Carolina women's lacrosse student-athletes earned All-South Region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, the IWLCA announced this week. Tar Heel senior defender Jenn Cook earned first-team honors for the second year in a row and sophomore defender Amber Falcone earned first-team honors in 2007 after being named to the second team last spring.

Four Tar Heels earned second-team All-South honors from the IWLCA -- senior goalkeeper Kristen Hordy, senior attacker Christina Juras, junior midfielder Erica LaGrow and freshman attacker Kristen Taylor. Hordy earned second-team honors for the second consecutive year.

Other ACC players named to the All-South first team include Maryland's Becky Clipp, Dana Dobbie, Krista Pellizzi and Kelly Kasper, Virginia's Kate Breslin, Jess Wasilewski and Blair Weymouth and Duke's Caroline Cryer, Carolyn Davis, Leigh Jester and Kristen Waagbo.

The IWLCA has honored 128 student-athletes in Division I with inclusion on one of eight All-Regional teams, with each of the four regions (the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South and West/Midwest) naming a first and a second team.

All 128 athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America teams, which will be announced on May 29. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americas at an awards banquet on June 16, 2006 in Downingtown, Pa.
