CHAPEL HILL -- The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team will close out its 2005 Atlantic Coast Conference season when it hosts Maryland on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Henry Stadium in Chapel Hill.

The Tar Heels (11-3), ranked No. 6 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Assocation (IWLCA) poll, enter Saturday's game with an ACC record of 2-1, having defeated Duke and Virginia Tech and lost to Virginia. ninth-ranked Maryland (8-5) is 1-2 in the ACC, having dropped decisions to Duke and Virginia and defeated Virginia Tech.

The Terrapins lead the all-time series, 10-5, and have won the last three meetings between the two schools. UNC last defeated Maryland during the Tar Heels' Final Four season of 2002, winning 13-11 in the regular season in Chapel Hill and 11-10 in the ACC Tournament championship game in Durham, N.C.

Carolina has won five of its last six games. UNC will return to action on Saturday Apr. 23 vs. Old Dominion at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill.
