Carlotti Named ACC Player Of The Week
March 28, 2005 GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina's Benjamin Carlotti was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Performer of the Week after leading the Tar Heels to pair of conference, road victories last week. In Wednesday's match-up against NC State, Carlotti posted a 6-4, 6-4 straight set victory over the Wolfpack's Val Banada at the number five singles position. The win guided the Tar Heels' to the 4-3 road win over No. 37 NC State. Against Miami on Sunday, the freshman from Paris, France rallied from a set down against the Hurricanes' Vivek Subramanian to win 5-7, 6-4, 7-6. The win by Carlotti in the third set tiebreak provided North Carolina with the decisive point for the 4-3 team victory. With the two wins, Carlotti improves to 13-4 in dual match play this season, including a perfect 5-0 mark in the ACC. Carlotti and the Tar Heels are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Virginia Commonwealth before returning home to face Virginia Tech on Saturday.
