Upper Iowa’s Volleyball team was defeated in a home match up of Northern Sun Conference teams. Northern State University won the match against Upper Iowa Friday night. The Peacocks dropped three of four games to the Wolves by the scores of 30-28, 26-30, 30-16, and 30-19. Upper Iowa’s record fell to 4-14 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
Neither team had a strong final hitting percentage. Upper Iowa had a .095 hitting percentage, while Northern State hit .159. Shea Meyermann led the Peacocks with 16 kills and 18 digs. Darcy Hageman finished the match with 14 kills and 7 digs. Michelle Truszkowski added 10 kills and 13 digs, while Chelsey Rupprecht tallied 8 kills and 2 blocks. Keri Vance led the Peacocks in assists with 24 and added 12 digs, while Claire Worby added 21 assists with 12 digs. Stephanie Smith led the Peacocks in digs with 25. Keely Jones finished with 5 kills. Northern State registered 55 kills, 52 assists, and 103 digs, while adding 9 blocks. Upper Iowa finished with 55 kills, 51 assists, and 92 digs, while adding 5 blocks. After the match, Coach Dave Jackson said, “We are a good team, but we do not consistently execute as a good team. We show that we can compete with every team we play, but we have to learn how to win. I told the ladies tonight, that they need to play as if every game is game 2. We have come out in our last two matches and dominated game 2. We are looking forward to hitting the court again tomorrow afternoon and moving forward.” Upper Iowa returns to the court Saturday afternoon in Fayette at 4 p.m. verse the University of Mary. |
