Peacocks Drop Final Two at NW Missouri State Tourney




Upper Iowa dropped its final two games at the Northwest Missouri State Tournament Saturday. The Peacocks lost to Truman State 3-2 before falling to host NMSU 21-5.
 
Brittany Sinnwell had two hits and drove in both Peacock runs in the first game. Upper Iowa (14-27) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning before Truman scored twice in the third. Sinnwell's second RBI of the game tied the score at 2-2 in the fourth. TSU scored in the top of the fifth and held on for the 3-2 win.
 
Jessie Gress and Priscilla Rubalcava also had two hits for UIU. Stephany Daubenspeck also singled.
 
Kacie Estes took the loss despite allowing only six hits and three runs over seven innings. She struck out seven.
 
Northwest Missouri State scored four times in the first inning and never looked back in UIU's second game. NMSU scored in every inning, including 10 runs in the sixth.
 
Katie Kilburg had two hits to lead the Peacocks. Kami Appelt, Alyx Miskell, Daubenspeck and Ashley Spooner also had hits. Daubenspeck homered. Katie Kilburg drove in three runs and Appelt knocked in one.
 
Angie Weber took the loss.
 
Upper Iowa hosts Concordia St. Paul Thursday at 3 p.m.
