The Peacock Women’s Soccer Team traveled to Winona, Minnesota as the #8 seed in the NSIC Tournament. The Warriors of Winona State defended their #1 seed and beat Upper Iowa 3-0. Upper Iowa finished their season with an overall record of 6-12-2 and an NSIC record of 2-6-1.
The Peacocks were outshot 15-1 and Winona State added a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. Upper Iowa did come up with 9 saves on the night, but allowed three goals. The lone Peacock to fire a shot was Amy Campbell. Melissa Heitzman made 8 saves while allowing three goals and Sarah Hiatt added 1 save. The Peacocks have a great deal to look forward to next year. The team is extremely young. There are no seniors on the team and the majority of the team is made up of freshmen and sophomores. With hard work this off season and a good recruiting class, UIU should be in the thick of the conference race next year. |
