The Upper Iowa University women's golf team is ranked No. 16 in the most recent Golf World/NGCA Division II Coaches' Poll. The poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) to determine its rankings. The complete results will appear in the October 19 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com. The Peacocks played in six tournaments this fall and finished with the lowest team score in three of those events. Upper Iowa won the Maverick Round-Up hosted by Minnesota State, Mankato, tied for the win at the Concordia University Invite with Nebraska-Omaha, and won the first half of the Northern Sun Conference Tournament. The team finished 4th out of 18 teams at the Drury Regional Shootout, 4th out of 14 teams at the Mustang Invitational hosted by Southwest Minnesota State, and 2nd out of 6 teams at the Express Suites Riverport Inn tournament hosted by Winona State. Upper Iowa has played well this fall against some of the best teams in the country. The Peacocks' opponents have included #5 Tarleton State, #10 West Florida, #11 Northeastern State, #12 St. Edward's, #13 Nebraska-Omaha, #14 Drury, #22 Augustana, #23 Concordia-St. Paul, #24 Central Oklahoma, and #25 Minnesota State, Mankato. The Peacocks have defeated seven of these ten ranked teams in their fall tournaments this season. |
