Upper Iowa Tied for First After First NSIC Championship Round

The Upper Iowa women's golf team will open today second round of the Northern Sun Conference Championship in Becker, Minnesota in a tie for first place. The team is tied with Concordia-St. Paul in the four round championship. The women's golf championship is split over two weekends; 36 holes in the fall and 36 in the spring.

Upper Iowa and Concordia-St. Paul currently lead Winona State (3rd) by 14 stokes after the Warriors combined for a 336.

Rachael Schmidt will tee it up today in 3rd place after shooting a 77 (38-39) on day one, while Laura Taylor turned in a 79 (42-37) thanks to a great back nine. Linsey Holien's 82 (43-39) was a huge lift for the Peacocks. Holien currently sits in 8th place. Rochelle Schmidt tied for 12th place after carding an 84 (39-45) and Jill Preeshl tied for 14th with an 86 (42-44).

Upper Iowa will complete the first half of the NSIC Championship this afternoon in Becker.
