Palo Alto, Calif., With the top nine runners of 11th ranked UC Santa Barbara held out, the Gaucho B team finished 11th of 17 teams Saturday at the Stanford Invitational.
Senior Christie Farson came in with a goal of running six minute pace over the 6 kilometer course and did exactly that finishing in 22:22 for 42nd place. Joining Farson up front for the Gauchos was freshman Lisette Arellano finishing just 3 seconds behind in 22:25 for 44th place. Junior Christine Bjelland also had a promisng race after fighting injuries the last year, finishing strong in 23:12 for 73rd place.
Also competing for UCSB were sophomore walk-on Stephanie Garcia and freshman Nicole Anderson. Garcia and Anderson finished in 77th (23:17) and 86th (23:32) respectively.
