Three Gauchos Earn Academic All-American Honors

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The 2005 UC Santa Barbara women's water polo team placed three players on the American Water Polo Coaches' Association Academic All-American team.

Senior Katy Kunkel (Dove Canyon, Calif.) and sophomore ZiZi Clark (Atherton, Calif.) both earned spots in the "Outstanding" category for holding cumulative grade point averages above 3.71. Kunkel holds a 3.71 GPA while majoring in biology, while Clark boasts a 3.89 GPA as a history major. It is the second straight all-academic selection for both.

Meanwhile freshman business economics major Lindsay Knott (San Jose, Calif.) garnered recognition in the "Excellent" category thanks to her 3.28 grade point average. She is pursuing a degree in business economics.

Kunkel and Clark were also joined by teammates Christy Medigovich (San Diego, Calif.) and Alaina Whitaker (Riverside, Calif.) on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federtation Academic All-Conference squad.
