SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara women's volleyball team will host its annual Spring Tournament in the Thunderdome this Saturday, April 10.

Each of the eight participating teams will play four matches, best two-out-of-three games in rally-scoring format. The teams will be broken up into two pools of four where they will play three contests each, followed by one cross-over match against a squad from the other pool.

There will be no official scoring at this event, and no tournament championship will be awarded. Current NCAA rules along with recent changes for the 2004 season will be used, most notably that the libero can now serve.

Highlighting the field at the UCSB Spring Tournament field are two teams which advanced to the 2003 NCAA Final Four - Hawai'i and Minnesota - as well as a pair of defending conference champions, Pepperdine and host Santa Barbara. Rounding out the field are perennial NCAA Tournament participants Arizona and Texas A&M, and two squads which compete against the Gauchos in Big West Conference play, Cal Poly and UC Irvine.

Admission to the UC Santa Barbara Spring Tournament is $5.00 for adults, free for current UCSB students and children 14 and under. All matches should conclude by 6:30 p.m.
