Honolulu, Hawaii - Sophomore middle blocker Danielle Bauer led the 14th-ranked UC Santa Barbara women's volleyball team past UNLV 15-7, 15-3, 15-6 Thursday night in Honolulu, finishing with team-highs of 11 kills, eight digs and three blocks. The Gauchos improved to 6-2 on the season while the Rebels fell to 0-8.
Bauer, who has been an offensive force for the Gauchos early in the year had her 11 kills on only 18 swings with three errors for a hitting percentage of .444. Freshman Erica Menzel finished with six kills and transfer Courtney Guerra came off the bench with five kills in six swings (.833). The Gaucho defense was again the key factor, holding the Rebels to just 20 kills and forcing 19 errors on 73 total attacks, for a hitting percentage of .014.
The Gauchos will play the 2nd-ranked University of Hawai'i Friday night at 10:00 p.m. PST and can be heard via the internet at www.hawaii.edu.
