SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team lost to Pacific 6-1 Friday in Big West Conference tennis action at Cathedral Oaks Athletic Club. The Tigers won the doubles point and five of the six singles points for the victory.
Pacific took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Andrea Pintar and Jen Kuhle prevented a UOP sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. The Tigers took the first four singles matches before Gruenig's 6-3, 7-6 victory over Katharina Heil at No. 1 singles. UOP's Nicole Sakai wrapped up the match with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Amy Vyhnis at No. 6 singles.
The Tigers move to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the Big West Conference. UCSB falls to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in the Big West.
The Gauchos are at home again Saturday when they host Utah State at the RecCen Courts at 11:00 am.
