IRVINE, Calif. -
Junior forward Jennifer Borcich has been selected Big West co-Player of the Week after leading UC Santa Barbara to road wins at Pacific and Cal State Northridge, the league announced today.
Borcich joins Cal Poly's Erin Martin in sharing the award. She scored the game-winning goal in both of the 2-0 wins this past weekend. In Sunday's victory at Cal State Northridge, her goal broke a scoreless tie in the 84th-minute and then she assisted on an insurance goal in the 88th-minute. She also scored the first goal in the win at Pacific.
On the year, the Sacramento, Calif., native has now scored nine goals and seven assists for 25 points. Borcich, in fact, leads the team in assists and points and is tied for the team-lead in goals.
The consecutive wins over the weekend vaulted UCSB back into contention for the Big West Tournament. The Gauchos are now in fifth-place in the league, one point behind Long Beach State. UCSB hosts Idaho on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Utah State on Sunday at noon.
