IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara men's swimming team has been picked to win the 2004 Big West Championship and the Gaucho women have been selected to finish second, the Big West Conference announced today.

The Gauchos, who finished second to Pacific last year, received all five first-place votes in the poll with 25 points. The Tigers finsihed second in the poll with 19 points and UC Irvine finished third with 16.

On the women's side, Pacific received all five first-place votes and finished with 25 points. The Gauchos, the second-place finisher at the league meet last year, were chosen second with 19 points. UC Irvine was picked third with 16 points.
