UCI wins 12th tournament title this fall

ANTEATERS CONCLUDE FALL SCHEDULE WITH SIXTH PLACE FINISH AT USF INVITATIONAL: UC Irvine concluded the fall schedule with a sixth place finish at the University of San Francisco/Richmond Country Club Invitational at the Richmond Country Club last week. 

The Anteaters ended the tournament with a three-round total of 924 (317-301-306). Newest Big West member, UC Davis won the event with a score of 907.

Senior Selaneé Henderson had her best performance of the fall with a third place finish, shooting a 222 (75, 71, 76) over three rounds.

Senior Kim Lorenzana shot a one-under par 70 on the final round to move into a tie for sixth with a 54-hole total of 225 (80-75-70). Sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha was 27th with a score of 236 (78-77-81), while sophomore Mariko Makabe was 43rd after carding a 245 (84-82-79). Freshman Sarah Fox ended the tournament in 44th position with a two-day total of 246 (85-78-83).

FALL RECAP: UCI won the the 19-team Lady Aztec Fall Classic at the Salt Creek Golf Course with sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha winning her first career tournament. Chawalitmetha became the fourth Anteater women's player (Selaneé Henderson, Stella Lee, Walailak Satarak) to earn medalist honors. It was the 12th tournament title in program history.

Following the fall schedule, senior Kim Lorenzana leads the squad with a 76.00 scoring average. Lorenzana was the only Anteater to post two top 10 finishes, placing third at the Lady Aztec Invitational (148) and sixth USF Invitational (225).

NEXT: UCI will return to action February 25-26, 2008 at the Fresno State Invitational held at the Copper River Country Club.
