UC Irvine Women's Golf Finishes In A Tie For SeventhSept. 18, 2007
Corvallis, Ore. -- The UC Irvine women's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the Giustina Memorial Classic Golf Tournament at the Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. Tuesday. The Anteater women shot a three round total of 923 (300-301-322) and tied Fresno State for seventh place. Washington State won the women's event with a score of 886 (298-296-292), 14 shots ahead of host Oregon State (900). Senior Kim Lorenzana led UCI with a 12th place finish, carding a 227 (72-75-80), while sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha was 16th with a three round score of 229 (76-75-78). Senior Selaneé Henderson was 29th with a 234 (77-77-80) and freshman Sarah Fox was 35th with a score of 243 (78-81-84). Sophomore Mariko Makabe, who shot a 149 (75-74) over the first two rounds, withdrew from competition on Tuesday due shoulder injury. The tournament paired the men's and women's teams from each school in a combined competition against the other schools. Teams played in foursomes that include one male and one female from each school. In the combined team event, UCI was fifth overall with a score of 1,776. Oregon State won the combined event with a total of 1,743. The Anteater men's team tied for third with a score of 853 (290-277-286). Sophomore John Chin placed fourth with a two-day total of 208 (71-68-69). |
