UC Irvine Finishes Sixth at USF Invitational

Two Anteaters finish in the top 10

Richmond, Calif. -- The UC Irvine women's golf team finished sixth at the University of San Francisco/Richmond Country Club Invitational Tuesday at the Richmond Country Club. 

The Anteaters ended the tournament with a three-round total of 924 (317-301-306). UC Davis won the event with a score of 907, one shot in front of 36-hole leader Texas Tech on the par-71 course. The Aggies entered the final round in fourth place but shot the lowest round of the day at 300 to win the tournament title.

UNLV's Therese Kolbaeck won the event at 215 (75, 71, 69), followed by Oregon's Cathryn Bristow at 219 (75, 72, 72). UC Irvine's Selaneé Henderson  (75, 71, 76) and USF's Christina Stockton (76, 73, 73) tied for third place with a score of 222.

Senior Kim Lorenzana shot a one-under par 70 Tuesday to move into a tie for sixth with a 54-hole total of 225 (80-75-70), her second top 10 finish of the fall.  Sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha was 27th with a score of 236 (78-77-81), while sophomore Mariko Makabe was 43rd after carding a 245 (84-82-79). Freshman Sarah Fox ended the tournament in 44th position with a two-day total of 246 (85-78-83).

This is the final tournament of the fall for UCI, who will return to action February 25-26, 2008 at the Fresno State Invitational.
