Saves: Chay Lapin (UCLA) 7; Adam Shilling (USC) 4. Top-ranked USC broke away from a 3-3 halftime tie with four consecutive goals in the third quarter and held off late-charging UCLA. Gabor Sarusi's extra-man goal gave the Trojans a 7-3 lead with 3:56 left in the third period but Scott Davidson scored on a power play 41 seconds later to cut the lead to 7-4. Clay Jorth (7:03) and Krsto Sbutega (5:53) scored for the fourth-ranked Bruins in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring. Shea Buckner and Matt Sagehorn led USC with two goals each while Davidson paced UCLA with two. USC advances to the championship game at 5:20 p.m. against the winner of Cal/Stanford. |
