NO. 21 ANTEATERS AT USD TOURNAMENT: The No. 21 UC Irvine men's soccer team (5-0) will travel to San Diego to play in the USD Tournament at Torero Stadium. The `Eaters will face Loyola Chicago Friday at 5:00 p.m. and then will face No. 9 Brown Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at Torero Stadium.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The Ramblers are 2-2-2 on the year. Michael Ferguson leads the team with 13 points on the year. Keeper Brian Byrne has 18 saves and one shutout on the year with a 1.37 goals against average.

The No. 9 Bears begin the week with a 4-0 record and will face St. Francis and San Diego before meeting UCI. Dylan Sheehan leads Brown with 11 points on the year. Keepers Paul Grandstrand and Jarrett Leech have split time in the net for the Bears.

ANTEATERS RANKED 21^st IN THE COUNTRY: The Anteaters have been ranked 21^st in the country by College Soccer News and 24^th by Soccer America.

The team was ranked sixth in the Far West region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America last Tuesday.

NCAA STATISTIC LEADERS: The Anteaters are one of 12 teams in the country that has won each of their matches. The team is tied for ninth nationally with 2.4 goals per game. Junior Shane Westbrook (St. Louis, Mo./Boston Univ.) is tied for 22^nd with 0.60 assists per match. Freshman keeper Pat Barton (Atlanta, Ga./St. Pius X HS) is 24^th with a goals against average of 0.59. Junior Matt Murphy (Anaheim Hills, Calif./Mater Dei HS) is tied for 58^th with 0.60 goals per match.

WEEK IN REVIEW: The Anteaters went 2-0 on the week with a 3-1 win over Sacramento State and a 3-2 win in overtime against San Jose State. Junior Matt Murphy and freshman Gray Bailey (Huntington Beach HS) led the team with three points each in the two matches. Freshman Spencer Thompson (Ahwatukee, Ariz./Mountain Pointe HS), junior J.T. Terrazas (Irvine, Calif./Univ. of California) and junior Rafael Macedo (South Gate, Calif./Salesian HS) each added goals on the week. Freshman keeper Pat Barton had six saves on the week.

PRE-SEASON ALL-AMERICAN Matt Murphy: Junior midfielder Matt Murphy has been named Pre-Season Third Team All-America by College Soccer News. Murphy was the Big West Midfielder of the Year in 2006 after leading the Anteaters with 25 points.

Murphy has 42 points, 16 goals, 10 assists and seven game-winning goals in his career.

ANTEATER LEADERS: Matt Murphy and Amani Walker lead the team with four points on two goals. Spencer Thompson and Shane Westbrook are tied for third with three points. Keeper Pat Barton has 14 saves and a 0.00 goals against average and three shutouts.

UCI RECORD BOOKS: Matt Murphy is 10^th all-time at UCI with 42 career points. He is tied for 11^th in goals with 16 in his career and is tied for third in career game-winning goals with seven.

HEAD COACH George Kuntz: The Anteaters are led by head coach George Kuntz who is in his 13^th year at the UCI helm. Kuntz was named NSCAA Far West Region Coach of the Year in 2006 and has been named the conference Coach of the Year in three of the past seven years including in 2006.
