San Marcos - Three Bobcats earned Hibernia Bank/Southland Conference All-Academic Volleyball Team selections as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

Senior setter Krystal Kolkhorst, senior middle blocker Kacee Rogers, and junior outside hitter Lizzy Nwoke each grabbed first team honors, while Kolkhorst was named the Student-Athlete of the Year.

It is the third time in her career that Kolkhorst has been selected to the all-academic team as she has maintained a GPA over 3.9 in finance and is a four-time recipient of the Oak Farms "Cream of the Crop" Award.

From Houston, Kolkhorst became the first Bobcat in the sport of volleyball to earn a place on both the CoSIDA Academic All-America and CoSIDA Academic All-District VI teams.

For the second-straight season, Kolkhorst led the league in assists with 12.5 per game, earning her a spot on the All-SLC First-Team and the league's Setter of the Year award.

She helped lead Texas State to a 27-6 record and the squad's first SLC Tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth since the 1998 campaign.

Kolkhorst was also a Southland All-Tournament Team selection and the Tournament MVP.

Kolkhorst finishes her career third all-time at Texas State in career assists with 4,450 while her 84 assists in a match against Texas-Arlington set a new team record this season.

Rogers earns her first selection to the all-academic team as she holds a 3.17 GPA in marketing.

A native of Austin, Rogers led the conference in hitting percentage for the second-straight season and ranked 18th in NCAA Division I with a career-best mark of .390

Rogers joined Kolkhorst on the All-SLC First-Team after making third team honors in 2003.

Her 108 assisted blocks this season ranks fifth all-time at Texas State single season records, while her 300 career assisted blocks is third all-time in school history.

Nwoke also earned her first selection to the All-Academic team having maintained a 3.09 GPA in biology.

Nwoke, from Houston, was an All-SLC Second-Team selection after leading the Bobcats in kills with an average of 3.97 per game.

This season she set a career-high with 31 kills against Texas-Arlington and was the 2004 CenturyTel/Classic Honda Premiere MVP as well as an SLC All-Tournament Team selection.

The three selections to the all-academic team are the most for Texas State volleyball since the 1999 campaign when five student-athletes made the list.
