Texas State Volleyball Plays Host to UTPA Tonight
Oct. 25, 2004 San Marcos, Texas - The Texas State volleyball team (18-4, 12-2 SLC) will take a break from Southland Conference action on Monday when it plays host to Texas-Pan American (8-13) at Strahan Coliseum. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. The Bobcats hold a slight lead in the Southland Conference standings over Texas-Arlington (18-4, 10-3 SLC) after cruising to a 3-0 record last week against I-35 rival UTSA (12-11, 9-5 SLC), McNeese State (13-8, 8-6 SLC) and Lamar (7-17, 1-11 SLC). Texas State will be putting its 13-match winning streak on the line this evening against UTPA, who lost two matches this past weekend to Texas-El Paso and New Mexico State. The `Cats have won their last seven home matches and are 10-1 inside the friendly confines of Strahan Coliseum this season, while the Lady Broncs sport a 2-9 road record. Texas State has averaged 15.8 kills per game while out-hitting their opponents .227-to-.173 in 22 games this season while UTPA averages 14.1 kills per game on .179 hitting. Following the match Texas State will wrap up its five-match home stand on Thursday against rival Stephen F. Austin (17-5, 9-3 SLC) at 7:00 p.m.
